Begin at the Hunan Provincial Museum, renowned for its treasures from the Mawangdui Tombs, including the remarkably well-preserved remains and belongings of a Marquise, buried for two millennia before being unearthed.

Then, visit Yuelu Academy, a symbol of Confucian heritage established in AD 976. It offers serene walks, captivating tourists with its natural beauty and remnants of ancient China’s great minds.

In the morning, take a high-speed train to Zhangjiajie (2 hours). Upon arrival, your new guide will escort you to, ride the world’s longest cable car (7,455 meters) from downtown to the top of Tianmen Mountain. This 30-minute journey transitions from the bustling city to the tranquil, mist-covered mountains. At the summit, admire the famous Tianmen Cave, a natural hole through the mountainside, which symbolizes the path to immortality for many. Don’t miss the glass-bottom walkways along the cliffs for breathtaking views.

Begin your day at Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, part of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, with a thrilling ride on the 326-meter-high Bailong Elevator. Marvel at the World’s First Bridge, a natural stone arch 2 meters wide and over 300 meters high. Take in the mesmerizing sight of the pillar-like peaks, including Hallelujah Peak, the inspiration behind Avatar’s Floating Mountains. Ascend Mt. Tianzi by cable car for stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks from over 1,200 meters high.
